She died at her home in Tallulah on March 8th with her beloved husband and children around her. She was a native of Tennessee, spending her early life near Nashville, and was there married to Dr. G. W. Gaines. Later Dr. and Mrs. Gaines came to Louisiana and made old Milliken's Bend their home before moving to Tallulah. Had Mrs. Gaines lived two hours longer she would have been a resident of Madison Parish twenty-three tears to the hour. Her entire life has been spent in the sweet simplicity - living only for her family and friends, to which her loyal devotion will always be remembered. The funeral services were held at 10:30 in the morning of Wednesday. March 9th, at her home by her sisters of the Eastern Star, and from there the body was taken to the Baptist Church, of which she has been a lively member since early womanhood, where her friend and pastor. Rev. C. E. Perryman, of Texarkana (who was for some time located in Tallulah), held services with an unusually large attendance of Tallulah and out-of-town people paying tribute to this ever true friend. The Interment was in the Tallulah cemetery in the family plot. To the stricken family and friends whom Mrs. Gaines loved so well, the Journal joins the entire community in offering its heartfelt sympathies, knowing the close relationship of a most devoted family. Mrs. Gaines is survived by her husband, Dr. G. W. Gaines, and three children, Mrs. R. C. Leeves of Tallulah, Mrs. B. C. Abernathy of Sondheimer and Mr. R. Paul Gaines of Mansfield, La., and ten grandchildren.
