Garrett - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal April 20, 1994 Services for James R. Garrett were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Garry Patince officiating. Burial followed at the Lake Providence City Cemetery. Mr. Garrett died Thursday, April 14, 1994, in Delta Haven Nursing Home in Tallulah. He was 77. He was a native of Arkansas and lived many years in Tallulah. He owned and operated Tibin Oakes Nursery in Transylvania, La., for a number of years. He was employed with Staple Cotton Company for 27 years and was a World War II veteran, Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn "Buddy" Garrett of Tallulah; one daughter, Michaele Ballard of Charlotte, NC. two grandsons, Craig Ballard of Hickory, NC., and Derek Ballard of Morganton, NC., one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter. Pallbearers were Fred Schneider, Bert Bachelor, Jim Wilkerson, Bob Duty, J. K. Post, Bill Yerger, Craig Ballard and Derek Ballard. Honorary pallbearers were Kirk Morley, Glen Streetman, Dr. Tom O'Sullivan, Nig Woodard, Otis Salin and Barry Maxwell.
