All rights reserved. ************************************************ Jack Gilbert - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post April 1, 2003 TALLULAH - Jack Gilbert died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Madison Parish Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Gilbert was born in Madison Parish and was a lifelong resident of Tallulah. He served in the Marine Corps in World War II and was a route supervisor for Cotton's Bakery for 30 years. He also served as justice of the peace for a number of years. Mr. Gilbert was a member of the Church of Christ and American Legion Post No. 100. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Gilbert; and a son, Keith Gilbert. Survivors include one son, Charles "Bug" Gilbert of Port Gibson; two daughters, Pam Skeldon and Deb Gilbert, both of Tallulah; a brother, Jerry Gilbert of Harrah, Okla.; two sisters, June Womack and Juanita Scherer, both of Fort Worth, Texas; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeff Thomas, Ralph Dowe, Art Skeldon, Jay Skeldon, Craig Gilbert and Adam Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar Lancaster, Donald B. Lancaster and Racer Holstead.
