Gilbert Held Wednesday Well Known Tallulah Resident Dies In A Vicksburg Hospital Tuesday Robert E. Gilbert, 65, well-known Tallulah resident, died Tuesday in a Vicksburg hospital after a week's illness. Mr. Gilbert, a native of Frankfort, Missouri, had been a resident of Tallulah since 1916. He was an agent for the Missouri Pacific Railroad from 1912-1925. Gilbert later entered the estate business in Tallulah. He was a Mason and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the family residence with the Rev. J. Arthur Strickland officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery with Young's Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Black Gilbert of Tallulah; one son, Hugh W. Gilbert of Greenwood, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Whitford, Point Pleasant, W. Va., and Mrs. Fay Benoit, Houston, Texas; and his mother, Mrs. Alice Gilbert, Donephan, Mo. Pallbearers were W. P. Sevier, Jr., Mandeville Kell, Foster Whitford, Harvey Benoit, C. E. Walker and R. C. Todd.
