Givens - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, June 19, 1959 Two Killed In Head-on Collision Here Saturday Two men were killed instantly and another critically injured in a head-on collision west of Tallulah last Saturday morning. The dead were identified by State Police Sgt. C. C. May as John C. Givens, 67, of Sondheimer, and Porter L. Henderson, a 26-year-old Negro of Tallulah. Injured and taken to the Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg is Fred Givens, 41, also of Sondheimer. As far as the Journal could find out his condition is still critical. Mr. Givens is suffering from a crushed chest, fractured right arm, a compound fractured left leg, a broken jaw, and cuts and bruises about his body. Both the Givens men were Madison Parish farmers, having resided here for the past 22 years. Mr. John Givens was a native of Arcadia, La., but moved to Madison Parish from Castor, La. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rosa Givens, Sondheimer; five sons, Fred, Clinton, Ray, McNeil, all of Sondheimer and William of Tallulah; four daughters, Mrs. Bernice Schregleman, Delta, Mrs. Merline Plunkett, Kermit, Texas, Mrs. Mildred Hancock, Anchorage, Alaska, Miss Inez Givens, Jackson, Miss., 13 grandchildren, one brother, Jim Givens, Shreveport, La., and three sisters, Mrs. Laurel Warford, Shreveport, Mrs. Mae Linon, New Orleans, and Mrs. Ella Stone, Overton, Texas.
