All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Josephine Evans Gould - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal July 24, 1953 Mrs. Gould Dies Tuesday At Talla Bena Plantation Mrs. Josephine Evans Gould, 66 died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. DeWitt Duncan at Talla Bena Plantation, six miles north of here at 9 a. m. Tuesday after a lingering illness. She was a native of Lake, Miss., and a member of a pioneer family in that section of the state. She at one time owned and operated Delta Inn at Summers, Miss., and for 27 years she operated the Sondheimer Hotel at Sondheimer, La. She was a member of the Tallulah Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and of the First Baptist Church of Tallulah. Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Tallulah. Rev. Shirley Briggs officiated. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Duncan; one brother, Alva Evans of Minden, La.; five sisters, Mrs. Modie Durge, Mrs. Lucy Logan, both of Doyline, La.; Mrs. J. J. Gould, Lake Providence; Mrs. Alma Denny, Nashville, 'Tenn.; Mrs. Mittie Major, Haughton, La.; and six grand children. Pallbearers were Frank Stewart, Gus Eakers, Ernest Stewart, Cecil Machen, Pete Russell and P. G. Byrd.
