Hamilton - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, September 18, 1959 Joe Hamilton Dies Saturday After Illness Joe F. Hamilton, 58, died at his home here at 7:40 p. m. last Saturday night after a lingering illness. He was a former store manager in Ferriday and had managed the Dixie Store here. Prior to his death he was employed at Johnson's Firestone Dealer Store. He was a native of Lake Providence and had resided in Tallulah for the past 22 years. A rosary was said at Young's Funeral Home Chapel at 7 p. m. last Sunday. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a. m. at Saint Edwards Catholic Church with the Rev. W. M. Hopp, officiating. Burial followed in the Lake Providence cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sue S. Hamilton; two sisters, Mrs. Nell H. Patrick of Lake Providence and Mrs. Rosa H. Hurd, Jackson, Miss.; five brothers, O. N. Hamilton, Richard Hamilton and Eddie Hamilton, all of Lake Providence, Jack Hamilton, Memphis, Tenn., and Harry Hamilton, New Orleans; one aunt, Mrs. Rosa Fausse, Lake Providence, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Lawrence Alwood, George Speed, Earl Gilbreath, Bob Brown, Roy Horsman, R. L. Moncrief, Bill Oakes and Mac Cagnolatti.
