Herring - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal November 19, 1921 At seven o'clock Saturday morning Dr. S. P. Herring passed away at the Sanitarium in Vicksburg after a brief illness of pneumonia. Dr. Herring was a practicing physician of Tallulah, and before locating here had a large and extensive practice in Newellton. He was 54 years of age and a native of Mississippi. The remains were buried in the cemetery at Vicksburg Sunday afternoon with a large attendance of friends and relatives. The Doctor leaves a wife, Mrs. Laura Sevier Herring, a son, Mr. Preston Herring, who is at present a student at LSU, and a brother, Mr. Steve Herring of Mound, and a sister, Miss Annie Herring of Jackson, Miss. The Journal extends sympathy to the relatives in their loss.
