All rights reserved. ************************************************ Johnny “Mint” Hollis Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post, September 20, 2004 TALLULAH — Johnny “Mint” Hollis Sr. died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at his home in Tallulah. He was 69. Born in Wisner, La., Mr. Hollis was a member of First Kingdom Baptist Church in Tallulah. He retired from Mississippi’s Labor Union Local 145 in 1991. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Marie Carson Hollis; his father, John Hollis; his mother, Edna Williams Brewster; two brothers, Bobby Earl Brewster and Eugene Brooks; and a sister, Jeanette Hollis. Survivors include two daughters, Tracey Banks of Edwards and Marcie Hollis of Vicksburg; seven sons, Sam Bunch and Michael Turner, both of Las Vegas, Charles Brown of Saginaw, Mich., Craig Phillips of St. Joseph, Willie Hayes of Denver and Michael Hollis and Johnny “Scootie” Hollis Jr., both of Tallulah; a brother, Cliff Hollis of Detroit; two sisters, Ruth MacDaniel of Tallulah and Doris Smith of Stockton, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Kingdom Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Toltson officiating. Burial will follow at New Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Beckwith Golden Gate Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
