All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Alton Price Holmes Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal May 28, 1999 Funeral services for Mr. Alton Price Holmes Jr., 56, of Tallulah were held Monday, May 24, 1999 at First United Methodist Church of Tallulah, with Reverends Kirby Vining, Greg Nichols and Kenneth Sissel officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery, Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. The eulogy was delivered by Earl Shipp of Memphis, Tenn., with special music by Dean Williams. Mr. Holmes died Saturday, May 22, at his residence in Tallulah following a lengthy illness. He was born in Greenwood, Miss., and had lived in Tallulah for 33 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tallulah. Mr. Holmes was the owner of Madison Farm Supply, Richmond Hardware, Bob Lowe Distributors and Manager of Tri-State Delta Chemicals. He was a member and served on the advisory boards of numerous professional organizations including the Louisiana Ag Industries Association, ASGROW Seed Co., and Ag Retailers Association. He also had served in the National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Judy Alsup Holmes, Tallulah; one son, Alton Price Holmes III, Tallulah; one daughter, Jennifer Holmes Williams, Tallulah; his mother, Frances Fullilove Holmes, Winona, Miss.; one sister, Gloria Middleton, Winona: and three grandchildren, Jon Denton Brittenum, Gamer Price Williams and Clayton Bailey Miller. Pallbearers were Bill Bennett, Tommy Bishop, Michael Hanlon, John H. Watts, Mauri Turner, David Miller, Alex Mackey and Wayne Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Karl Taylor, Bob Lowe, Bill Lambert and employees of Madison Farm Supply.
