All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Ella Ruth Ezell Hopkins - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News-Star April 2, 2015 Ella Ruth Ezell Hopkins, age 83, passed away March 31, 2015. Funeral services will be Friday, April 3, 2015 at 2:00 P.M., at First Baptist Church in Tallulah, La., with Bro. John Rushing and Bro. Jared Osborne officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 at the church, Friday. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah, under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mrs. Hopkins was born January 31, 1932 in Crowville, La., to Norman and Ruby (Guyton) Ezell. She married John Charles (Charlie) Hopkins, Sr., on November 13, 1948. Ella Ruth was a resident of Madison Parish for over 70 years. She worked for a short time at J. C. Penney's and then dedicated her life to being a farmer's wife. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah. She is survived by her son, John Charles Hopkins, Jr., and wife Teresa of Tallulah, granddaughters, Jenny Hopkins Pankey and husband B. J., of Monroe, and great granddaughter, Ella, Tina Herrington and husband, John Michel of Tallulah, great grandchildren, Christian, Austin, Tyler Boyett, Taylor Grace, Colton Herrington, her daughter, Teresa Hopkins Ezell and husband Larry of Tallulah, grandson, Charles Heath Ezell of Tallulah and great granddaughter, Emma, and granddaughter Heather Ezell Svarc and husband, Tyler of Shreveport and great grandson, Tyler, and her son, Wayne Devone Hopkins and wife Beth of Shreveport, granddaughter, Carrie Hopkins Osborne and husband Jared of Shreveport, and great grandson, Judah, and grandson, Carter Hopkins and wife Aubrey of Dallas, Texas, 4 sisters, Jo Ann Ferguson of Byhalia, Ms., Shirley Scarbrough of Bradenton, Fl., Jerry McCabe of Columbia, Tn., and Marilyn King of Bradenton, Fl., 1 brother, Pete Ezell of Charleston, S.C., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Normie and Ruby Ezell, husband, John Charles (Charlie) Hopkins, Sr., brothers, Gerald Ezell and Jim Ezell, and sister Donna Fields. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the physicians and nurses in ICU Vicksburg Merit Hospital, and Dr. Lee Humble and his wife, Gail. A special thanks to Karen Dorbeck, Elsie Honeycutt, and Louise Johnson.
