V. Hughes Funeral services for Richard Velmar Hughes, 72, who died last Friday at a Vicksburg hospital after a short illness were held at 10 a. m. last Saturday at the Chapel of Crothers' Funeral Home. Services were conducted by the Rev. John Hurt. Burial followed n in Silver Cross cemetery under the direction of Crothers' Funeral Home. Mr. Hughes had resided in Tallulah for the past 27 years, was a native of Smith County, Miss. He was a retired foreman of the Chicago Mill Lumber Co. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sally Hughes, Tallulah; two sons, Jack Hughes, Greenwood, Miss.; W. L. Hughes, Dallas, Texas, one daughter, Mrs. Jack Byrom, Memphis, Tenn; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Don Belott, J. T. McClure, O. D. Creed, Martin Pemberton, Roy McCaa and J. B. McKnight.
