All rights reserved. ************************************************ Charles Douglas Johnston - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Evening Post, October 5, 1931 MADISON PARISH MAN DIES IN VICKSBURG Charles Douglas Johnston died in Vicksburg Sunday morning of pneumonia in his 44th year. He was a native of Tensas parish, La., but was a resident of Madison parish for a number of years and a member of the Police Jury of that parish. He was taken ill on Monday and rushed to a hospital in this city early Tuesday morning. He is survived by a widow, nee Aldine Ellis, of Madison parish, and two children, also by one brother, James S. Johnston of St. Joseph, La., and one sister, Miss Louise Johnston, of Ruston, La. Funeral services were conducted by the Fisher undertaking concern and interment was in the Tallulah cemetery at 11 o'clock Monday, conducted by Rev. Gordon M. Reese of Vicksburg. From Madison Journal, October 9, 1931 C. D. JOHNSTON DIES ON MONDAY OF PNEUMONIA Was Resident of the Parish Many Years and Police Jury Member C. D. Johnston, for many years a resident of Madison parish and a member of the Madison parish Police Jury, died in Vicksburg on Sunday after a brief illness from pneumonia. He had been sick only a few days and few of his friends knew of it, hence his death was somewhat of a surprise. He was 44 years old. Mr. Johnston, while a native of Tensas parish, has been a resident of this parish for many years, having served in the world war from Madison and was a member of the American Legion. post here, which organization provided pall hearers for the funeral. He has been a member of the Madison parish police jury for some time. Funeral services were held in Tallulah Monday, Rev. David E. Holt, rector of the Trinity Episcopal Church here, officiating. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Aldine Ellis, of Madison parish, and two children. Also a brother, James S. Johnston, of St. Joseph, La., and a sister, Miss Louise Johnston of Ruston, La., all of whom are the recipients of much sympathy in their bereavement.
