Jones - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, March 17, 1944 Section Forman Fatally Injured In Fall Tuesday L. D. Jones, section foreman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and at one time night marshal for the Village of Tallulah, was fatally injured when he fell from his motor car coming in from work Tuesday evening. Witness stated that a switch had been left open and his car ran into it. At the time Jones either attempted to jump or was thrown from the car and was hurt. He died shortly after the accident. Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church Thursday afternoon with Rev. Clarence Crow officiating, with burial in Silver Cross Cemetery. Pall bearers were R. R. Spigener, L. Chambless, T. H. Montgomery, William Powell, Clayton Calhoun and H. C. Massey. Mr. Jones is well known here and has many friends. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Herbert Jones of Tallulah and L. D. Jones, now serving in the armed forces; a daughter, Mrs. W. C. Mosely of Vidalia, La.: two brothers, Grant Jones of Florence, Miss.; Silas Jones of Los Angeles, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. S. L. Hawkins, Meridian, Miss.: Mrs. Claude Smith, Mrs. Blanche Pierce, Florence, Miss.; and Mrs. Ida Gill, Jackson, Miss. Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
