E. Kell, 70, Passes Away In Vicksburg Monday Alexander Ellett Kell, age 70 years, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Clyde Scott, 1516 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, early Monday after a lengthy illness. Mr. Kell, a resident of Madison parish, was born in Franklin county, Miss., and moved to this parish while he was still a young man. He was a prominent planter in this section, at the time of his death owning and operating the Hermione plantation northeast of Tallulah. He took an active interest in protecting this territory from overflows, and for a number of years was a member and president of the Fifth Louisiana Levee Board. Mr. Kell is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clyde Scott; four nieces, Mrs. Howard Sevier, of Tallulah. Mrs. Wade Newell, Newellton, Mrs. Elizabeth Kell Perkins, New Orleans, Miss Cornelia Kell, New Orleans; four nephews, Dr. L. L. Handly, R. Q. M. Handly, Houston, Texas, Lancaster Kell, Baton Rouge and Mandeville Kell, Tallulah. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from the Fisher Funeral Chapel in Vicksburg with the Rev. Camille Estornolle, rector of Holy Trinity Church, Vicksburg, officiating. Interment was in the Cedar Hill cemetery, Vicksburg. Tallulah Lodge No. 308, conducted the Masonic rites at the grave. The pallbearers were: Active, Dr. L. L. Handly, Houston, Lancaster Kell, Baton Rouge, Mandeville Kell, Dr. Howard Sevier, Lewis Collins, and Horace Collins, all of Tallulah. Honorary, Dr. B. B. Martin, Sr., Dr. B. B. Martin, Jr., Gray Flowers, Arnot Geary, all of Vicksburg; Earle Read, W. H. Hewes, F. G. Hewes, George W. Webb, A. J. Sevier, Dr. G. W. Gaines, Gus G. Aivages, R. S. Gayle, Dr. S. J. Franks, all of Tallulah, Wade Newell, C. V. Ratcliff, Sr., W. W. Burnside of Newellton.
