Zelma Marcella Hutchins King was born September 14, 1936, in Black Oak,
Arkansas, to Luther and Jessie Hatcher Hutchins. She passed away Monday, August
25, 2025, at her home in Transylvania, Louisiana, surrounded by her family. She
was 88 years old.
Mrs. King married Wayne King on October 3, 1952, and together they raised
four children. They were married for 68 years. She was a long-standing member
of Melbourne Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend.
Mrs. King is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne King; father, Luther
Hutchins; mother, Jessie Hutchins; sisters, Monalie Pruitt and Ruby Wiles;
granddaughter, Krystal King; and grandson-in-law, Clint Harper.
Mrs. King is survived by four children, Jerry King and wife Melba, Debra
Tuggle and husband Hurby, Ronald King and wife Dana, and Melissa Taves and
husband Donavon; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren with one on the way;
one great-great grandchild; one sister, Carolyn Rutledge; and one
sister-in-law, Kaye King.
The family would like to make a special mention of Rose Frith who made
Marcella’s days brighter after Wayne’s passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held at Melbourne Baptist Church in
Transylvania, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from
6:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025,
at 10:00 AM with Bro. Butch Goodman and Bro. Mike Howard officiating. Burial
will follow at Memorial Park cemetery in Tallulah, Louisiana, under the
direction of Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Pallbearers will be Bransen Taves, Cayden Hill, Caleb Hill, Joshua Guyton,
Layne Grady, and Carter King.
