Lancaster died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Madison Parish Hospital. He was 76. Born in Natchez, Mr. Lancaster was a resident of Tallulah. He graduated with honors from Mississippi State University with a degree in accounting. He was a certified public accountant for Ward, Rea and Shaw CPA firm in Meridian before working as a senior auditor for Union Carbide & Chemical Corporation in Knoxville, Tenn. He was a self-employed CPA while in Tallulah and was head of the accounting department of Tallulah Vocational College before retiring in 1997. Mr. Lancaster was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Tallulah Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife, Thellis McDonald Lancaster of Tallulah; a son, Col. Louis Kent Lancaster of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Ava Clair Lancaster of Baton Rouge and Lauren Paige Stein of Burlington, Vt.; a brother, Edgar H. Lancaster Jr. of Tallulah; a sister, Mabel Clair Placke of Tallulah; three grandchildren; and other relatives. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Fred Fulton and Ramon Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Adam Lancaster, Stephen Lancaster, Dale Placke, Allan Placke, Hunter Lancaster and Jason Placke. Honorary pallbearers will be Judge Michael Lancaster, Harvey Mounger, Billy Post, Terry Murphy, Lloyd Shelton, Ted Ivey, Drs. L.P. Neumann Jr., T.A. Neumann and members of the Tallulah Rotary Club.
