LEWIS OF TALLULAH,LA.,DIED EARLY TODAY Funeral Service in Tallulah Friday Morning, 11 O'Clock Matthew Marvin Lewis, aged 36 years, resident of Tallulah, La., died in Vicksburg this morning after a short illness, having been brought here for treatment. Mr. Lewis was born in Mississippi on October 5, 1880. He at one time resided in Vicksburg. For the past eighteen years he had been making his home in Tallulah. He was a salesman. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Menger Lewis; one sister, Miss Mary Lewis of Vicksburg, and one brother, H. J. Lewis of Willis, Texas, all of whom have the sincere sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. The remains were prepared for burial by Undertaker Fisher and will be taken overland to the home of the deceased in Tallulah this afternoon. Funeral services will be held from the saddened home in Tallulah tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. L. A. Matherne of the Baptist church, and Rev. H. N. Alexander of the Presbyterian Church of Tallulah officiating. The pallbearers will be A. J. Sevier, P. O. Benjamin, D. H. Allen, W. R. Gilfoil, W. P. Sevier, Jr., J. S. Agee, J. E. Neill and Henry C. Sevier. Interment will be in the Tallulah Cemetery. From Madison Journal February 14, 1936 Heart Attack Is Fatal To M. M. Lewis Thursday M. M. Lewis, resident of Tallulah for nearly eighteen years, died at about four o'clock Thursday morning in Street's Sanitarium in Vicksburg, where he had been taken Monday after an attack of heart trouble. Mr. Lewis had been in ill health for some time, but his first serious trouble came Monday when he was taken to Vicksburg. Mr. Lewis was a native of Mississippi, but came to Tallulah about eighteen years ago, at that time being engaged as a salesman. Since then he has engaged in various other businesses, at one time operating a grocery store. At the time of his death he was about 55 years of age. Twenty-one years ago he was married to his wife, who was Miss Marie Munger. She survives him, and is an employee of the Tallulah State Bank & Trust Company. Funeral services will be held from the home this morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. H. N. Alexander, pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. L. A. Materne. Interment will be in the Silver Cross Cemetery after the services.
