James R. Linton - Madison Parish, Louisiana

The funeral of James R. Linton, 93, of Tallulah was held Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. Ned Stout officiating. Burial was in the Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah with Masonic rites at graveside under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home of Tallulah.

 

Mr. Linton died Monday at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah after a lengthy illness.

 

Mr. Linton was a former superintendent of the Madison Parish School System for 41 years and served 44 years in the system. He was formerly of Steubenville, Ohio and had resided in Madison Parish for 67 years.

 

Mr. Linton was a member and past chairman of the Board of Stewards of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Tallulah Rotary Club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

 

Survivors include one son, Ralph E. Linton of Monroe; one daughter, Mrs. W. J. Lee of Stamps, Ark.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers were Robert Graves, Malcolm Sevier, Shields Bray, Edgar Lancaster Jr., Barton Sevier, Judge Cliff Adams, Robert W. Gandy and Jack Folk.
