Loe, Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal November 19, 1970 Rites held here Wednesday For Lamar T. Loe, Sr., 65 Lamar T. Loe, Sr., 65, prominent businessman and civic leader, died Monday night at Mercy Hospital Vicksburg after an illness of several weeks. Services were held at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Rev. Crawford Williams officiating. Burial followed in Providence Memorial Cemetery under direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Loe operated for many years the Lamar T. Loe Chevrolet Co. in Tallulah, and had retired about two years ago. He was still serving as vice-president and a director of Southern National Bank at Tallulah. He was a Shriner and a member of the First Baptist Church of Tallulah. Active in civic affairs throughout the many years he lived in Tallulah, Mr. Loe was a past president of the Madison Parish Chamber of Commerce. He was also a well-known political leader throughout the state. Mr. Loe was born January 17, 190x in Friendship, La. His father was Justin Bunyon Loe and his mother the former Mattie Lou Easley. He attended Louisiana College in Pineville. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillian Loe, one son, Lamar T. Loe, Jr. of Vicksburg; two brothers, Ralph D. Loe of Tallulah and Dr. J. B. Loe of Natchez; two sisters, Mrs. Erwin Jordan and Mrs. Lucille McCaskell, both of Alexandria, and three granddaughters. Pallbearers were Lindsey Coit Newellton, Basil Cobb of Natchitoches, Bill Cleveland of Crowley, Dan Donald of Jennings, Bob Bailey, Sr. of Covington, George Kimbrough, Harvey Mounger and Jesse Anderson, all of Tallulah. Honorary pallbearers were directors Southern National Bank of Tallulah.
