SHREVEPORT, LA - Services celebrating the life of Margaret Lorraine Smith Loper will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2011, at First United Methodist Church of Shreveport Couch Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Carl Rhoads. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home.

Lorraine was born November 29, 1923 in Gilbert, LA and passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011, after suffering a recent stroke. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport. She grew up in Tallulah, LA, one of five children, during the Great Depression. She graduated from Northeast Junior College in Monroe and then moved to Shreveport in 1943. She married Don Loper in May 1948. Lorraine was a Charter Member of the Shreveport Geological Women's Auxiliary, a member for 58 years.

Her husband, Roy Don Loper, parents, Joseph C. and Willie Cagle Smith, and brothers, Joseph C. Smith, Jr. and William King Smith, preceded Lorraine in death. Wonderful memories will be shared by her sons, Roy Don Loper, Jr. and wife, Charlotte of San Antonio, TX and Jeffrey Alan Loper and wife, Veronica of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Rebekah Dawn Loper, Roy Don Loper, III, Cosette Marie Loper, and Connor Joseph Loper; great grandchild, Olivia Grace Richardson; and sisters, Bobbie Rachael Kincade and husband, Lee "Buddy" Kincade, and Dixie Lynne Keeley, as well as by many loving nieces and nephews.

Honoring Lorraine, as pallbearers will be Roy Don Loper, III, Connor Loper, John Kincade, Mike Keeley, Todd Simons, and Bryan Wann. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Fred White, Lance Mosley, Stuart Reeks, and Steve Day.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Mom's caregiver Marveine King.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Shreveport.
