Nelson Albert “Al” Lusby, age 94, of Tallulah, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 12, 1929, in Brooms Island, Maryland. He was the son of the late Nelson E. Lusby and Agnes V. (Parks) Lusby. While serving in the United States Army, he met and married Rita Sue Miles on March 6, 1955, in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was a member of Mound Baptist Church. He was employed by Cotton Holsum Bakery for over 34 years. Al loved to fish and work in his yard. He was a man that loved his family and helped his neighbors.

Al is survived by three daughters: Kathleen Swayze (Bruce) of Farmerville, Louisiana, Christine Huskey (Perry) of Tallulah, Louisiana, and Geraldine Hicks (Gene) of Tallulah, Louisiana; a son, James Boyd Lusby (Terrie) of Tallulah, Louisiana; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Al is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Sue Lusby in August 1991; his siblings: Ronald Lusby, Rose Gibbons, Bernard Lusby, and Peggy Shenton; his great-grandsons Carson Kurtz and Alan Michael Ashley and his loving and devoted companion, Leoma Reed.

A memorial service for Nelson Albert Lusby will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Nelson’s home.
