July 12, 1924 ~ November 7, 2025 101 Years Old
Hilda Miller Massey age 101, passed away in Irving, Texas on November 7,
2025.
Hilda was born on June 12, 1924, to Joe and Tennie Miller in Chattanooga,
Tennessee. Hilda was raised in Chattanooga along with her five siblings. She
was the oldest of six children in her family.
After graduation, Hilda enlisted in the United States Navy and served in
World War II. It was while she was serving that she met the love of her life,
Herbert Massey, a Marine. Hilda and Herbert settled in Tallulah, Louisiana
where they built their lives raising their three children, Joe Massey, Laura
Massey Caudill and Tom Massey. Herbert was a local merchant in Tallulah and
Hilda taught kindergarten at Tallulah First Baptist Church.
In the summer of 2013, Hilda moved to Irving, Texas, West Fork Senior
Living Community. While at West Fork, Hilda made many friends, attended Bible
Study, enjoyed outings, parties with friends and was known as the top bridge
player in her senior community.
Hilda was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Tennie Miller, husband
Herbert Massey, brothers, Tommy Miller, Herman Miller, David Miller and sisters
June Miller Lively and Barbara Miller Dye.
She is survived by her children, Joe Massey (Jan) of Edmond, Oklahoma,
Laura Massey Caudill (Rick) Irving, Texas and Tom Massey (Anita) of Montgomery,
Texas. Grandchildren, John Massey, Joel Massey, Alex Caudill, Elizabeth
Caudill McClain (Clint), Erica Massey and Rebecca Massey. Great grandson,
Gunner Massey and loving nieces and nephews.
Hilda was proud of her service in the US Navy and was recently honored by
the World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. Hilda celebrated her 100th
Birthday with a celebration that included family and friends from Louisiana,
Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida and Texas. Hilda loved her family and
friends.
She is forever in our hearts!
Services will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home, 2 Crothers Drive,
Tallulah, Louisiana on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11am with burial at Silver
Cross Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at 10am.
Pallbearers will be John Massey, Joel Massey, Alex Caudill, Clint
McClain, Michael Lancaster, Keith Wally.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to First Baptist
Church Tallulah or World War II Museum, New Orleans, Louisiana.
