All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** James "Pinkey" Mathis - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal August 31, 1994 Services for James "Pinkey" Mathis were held in Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Henderson and the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah. Mr. Mathis died Friday, Aug. 19, 1994, in the Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. He was 81. He was a native of Epps, La., and had lived in Tallulah for 39 years. He was a member of Holly Ridge Baptist Church and was a farmer and mechanic. He also attended Mound Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Frances Rea Mathis of Tallulah; four sons, James Mathis Jr. of Shreveport, Steve Mathis of El Dorado, Ark., Sam Mathis of Tallulah and Kenny Ray Mathis of Dallas, Ga.; eight daughters, Dorothy Johnston of Doyline, La., JoAnn Campbell, Elain Elton, Judy Josey and Shelia Pile, all of Tallulah, Jeannette Edwards cf Bossier City, Geraldine McC1ure of Delta and Cynthia Brinson of West Monroe; two brothers, Robert Mathis of Tallulah and George Mathis of Brookhaven, Miss.; four sisters, Pauline Cunningham, Bethel Rutledge, Betty Smith, all of Brookhaven, Miss., and Mary Jean Mathis of Delta; 34 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons.
