All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Max Allen MCDONALD - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Los Angeles Times September 9, 2014 June 13, 1936 - September 3, 2014 Max Allen was born in Grayson, Louisiana to his loving parents Max and Mabel McDonald. The family moved to Tallulah, Louisiana, where he had a Huckleberry Finn childhood. Max was educated and trained in graphic design, illustration and fine art painting at Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in Ruston, Louisiana and Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, he had a 53-year graphic design and illustration career while water color painting in his spare time. He retired in 2011 to paint fulltime. He loosely organized five quirky friends into "The Grumps" who painted and photographed on-site once a month. Max is survived by his wife Gladys (GG), daughters Leslie Evans and Heather Lloyd and son Chad McDonald, three grandchildren and brother Jerry McDonald. Services will be held on Friday, September 12 at 10:30 AM at Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home, 6263 Sycamore Dr., Simi Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the . (sic)
