McHenry, 74, died of cancer Oct. 30 at Riverside Community Hospital. Born in Tallulah, La., Mr. McHenry lived in Riverside 47 years. Mr. McHenry was also an equipment manager for Norton Air Force Base from 1978 to 1988, when he retired. He was a school crossing guard for Riverside Unified School District from 1994 to 1998. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. Mr. McHenry received a Combat Infantryman's Badge and two Bronze Star Medals. He was a member of Edward J. Minor American Legion Post 418 in Riverside, Disabled American Veterans and Allen Chapel AME Church in Riverside. Mr. McHenry is survived by his wife, Adalia; three daughters, Marguerite Redden of Nevada, Joanie Cain of Los Angeles and Judy Southall of Murrieta; a son, John of Riverside; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ossie of Riverside; and two sisters, Ada Wharry of North Highland and Ruth Warren of Riverside. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Allen Chapel AME Church in Riverside. Friends may call from 1 until 7 p.m. today at Tillman Riverside Mortuary.
