Medlin - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, August 2, 1957 Dr. J. R. Medlin Dies Of Heart Attack Thursday Dr. John R. Medlin died at the Madison Parish Hospital at 2:30 a. m. Thursday from a heart attack. He was 60 years old. Dr. Medlin, a native of Georgia had lived in Tallulah for the past 28 years. He came to Tallulah from Atlanta, Georgia, where he was an instructor in the Atlanta Dental College. Services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Tallulah Methodist Church with the Rev. W. F. Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge: His hobbies were hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. J. Roy Medlin; two brothers, Dr. M. Medlin, Marion, La., and Dr. Ira Medlin, Newellton; four sisters, Mrs. Harvey Cook, Newton, Miss., Mrs. S. Stockman and Mrs. J. B. Thigpen, both of Springs, Miss., and Mrs. William Gregory, Tallulah and a number of nieces and nephews.
