Melton - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal January 3, 1974 Robert L. Melton Funeral services were held Sunday for Robert L. Melton, 75, who had been a resident of Tallulah for many years. Mr. Melton died at his home in Newellton Thursday, December 27, recently of heart attack. Officiating at the services Sunday was Rev. Crawford Williams and burial was in the Silver Cross Cemetery under direction of Crothers Funeral Home. A native of Alabama, Mr. Melton had lived in Tensas Parish for the past five years. He was a member of the Willow Baptist Church of Newellton. He is survived by eight sons, Robert L. Melton, Jr., and Mickey Melton, both of Tallulah, Marzell Melton and Bill Melton, both of Vidalia, Willie Melton and Leonard Mellon of Corvallis, Ore., Pat Melton of Medford, Ore., and M. L. Melton of Nova Scotia; three daughters, Mrs. Winston Moffett and Mrs. Belle Robertson, both of Tallulah and Mrs. Ann Melton of Corvallis, Ore., Mr. Melton is also survived by 29 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers for the services.
