Merritt died Friday, May 10, 2002, at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport. He was 61. Mr. Merritt, a mechanic and farmer, was born in Rodney and had lived in Madison Parish for 40 years. He was a member of Flowers Landing Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Sherion Wilson Merritt of Tallulah; two daughters, Tammy Merritt of Tallulah and Gwyn Ogden of Delhi; two grandsons, Justin Ogden and Coltin Ogden, both of Delhi; and four brothers, Rufus Merritt, Johnny Merritt, Charles Merritt and Donald Wayne Merritt, all of Newellton. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park in Tallulah. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jack Taylor, Henry Wilson, Jeff Wilson, Howard Merritt, Dan Copes and Johnny Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Lane Wilson, Glen Paulette, Jim Ezell, Ken Caraway and Neal Ogden.
