All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Marianne Ward Metcalf - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, March 6, 1964 Tallulah Shocked At Death Of Former Resident The death of Mrs. Hollis Metcalf, at her home in Shreveport, La., early Monday morning, shocked a large number of friends and relatives here. She was Miss Marianne Ward, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Ward of Tallulah, and although she was born in St. Joseph, La., she grew up in Tallulah, graduating from Tallulah High School as Valedictorian of her class. Always known or abilities and abounding energy, she was prominent in club work and civic activities in Shreveport. She also wrote feature articles for the Shreveport Journal. She was stricken in the afternoon, and death came in the following early morning hours. Cerebral hemorrhage caused her early death. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Hollis Metcalf of Shreveport, La., a son, Mr. Warren Metcalf of Los Angeles, Cal., and a daughter, Mrs. Don Duggan of Baton Rouge, La. Miss Katherine Ward of Tallulah is her sister, and another sister surviving her is Mrs. Walter Stewart of Beaumont, Texas and a brother, W. H. Ward of Rapid City, South Dakota. Close relatives of Mrs. Metcalf in Tallulah are: Mrs. Neal Holt, Mr. Don Sevier, Mrs. C. C. Adams and Mr. Harry Holt. Her mother was Mary Kate Sevier, of Tallulah, before her marriage to Mr. Ward. Funeral services were held Tuesday from Osborne Funeral Home in Shreveport with internment in a Shreveport Cemetery.
