All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Clara Mize - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, February 12, 1960 Services For Miss Clara Mize Held Monday Funeral services for Miss Clara Mize, 73, a retired school teacher, who died Saturday at the Madison Parish hospital following a heart attack, were held Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. A. B. Pierce officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Miss Mize was a native of Canton, Kentucky, and resided here with her sister, Mrs. R. S. Gayle, since December of 1946. Miss Mize was a retired teacher, having served public schools for 40 years and had taught math in three colleges. She had also worked in the Pentagon in Washington, D. C. She was an active worker in the Baptist Church, a member of the Madison Parish Garden Club and treasurer of the Tallulah Book Club. Other survivors other than Mrs. Gayle are, five sisters, Mrs. R. W. Stewart, Apalachicola, Fla., Mrs. S. G. Pope, McComb,. Miss.; Mrs. Jake McGee, Fort Ord, Calif.; Mrs. Roy D. King, Brookhaven, Miss., and Mrs. Hubert Beall, Pineville; and her stepmother, Mrs. C. H. Mize, Brookhaven, Miss. Pallbearers Were Louis Nettles, H. C. Sevier, Sr., C. E. Hester, M. A. Phillips, Ed Courtney, Moss Christian, Bud King and John Carpenter.
