Mounger - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Jackson MS Clarion-Ledger August 14, 2007 Harvey T. Mounger, retired banker of Canton, died on August 11. Born in Hattiesburg, MS, October 13, 1919, he was the son of Dr. Harvey T. Mounger and Mary Field Mounger. Sisters Mary Stockton Mounger Hamilton and Isabel Mounger preceded him in death. A graduate of Hattiesburg High School, he attended Mississippi Southern College, graduated from Tulane University and The University of MS School of Law. During World War II he served in the European Theatre of Operations, obtaining the rank of Captain. He was awarded the European Theatre service ribbon with five bronze stars for Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe and the Army Occupation Medal. In 1994 the province of Normandy awarded him the Medaille du Jubilee, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the capture of St. Lo. He began his career in banking in Brookhaven, MS in 1950. Employed in 1954 by Southern National Bank of Tallulah, LA, he served as Vice-President, President, and Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 1994. An Episcopalian, he served as a member the vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah numerous times. He is survived by his wife, Theodosia Porter Mounger; daughter, Sarah Mounger McGee; grandchildren, Michael McGee, Jr., May Vaughan McGee, and Richard McGee of Canton. Visitation will be at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton, August 14, 2007, 5-7 PM with a graveside service at 11 AM, August 15, 2007, in Hattiesburg, MS.
