All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ James Elmer Neill Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, June 3, 1975 Funeral Rites Held For Elmer Neill Jr. Funeral services for James Elmer Neill Jr., 48, a prominent Tallulah businessman were at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Episcopal Church with Father Treadwell officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Neill died Wednesday night at Ochner's Foundation Hospital in New Orleans after a lengthy illness. A native and lifelong resident of Tallulah, Mr. Neill was on the board of directors of the Tallulah State Bank and was a wholesale petroleum distributor. He was also a member of the Madison Parish Port Commission. A Tallulah High School graduate, Mr. Neill attended Marion Military Institute and was a graduate of LSU, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. An avid sportsman, he was an active member of Ducks Unlimited and a longtime sponsor of little boys' baseball in the parish. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Neill served in the Naval Air Corps. He was a member of the American Legion, the Trinity Episcopal Church and was on the executive board of Tallulah Academy-Delta Christian School. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Neill; two sons, Jim and John Neill; one daughter, Miss Patricia Neill; and his mother, Mrs. J. E. Neill, Sr., all of Tallulah. Pallbearers were Charles Beene Sr., Charles Anderson, Jim Brown, Billy Windham, Jack Millikin, T. A. Bishop, Eddie Mac Elledge and Frank Hover. Honorary pallbearers were the Yerger brothers, the directors of the Tallulah State Bank and the Madison Parish Port Commission members. The family requests that memorials be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church or the American Cancer Society.
