Mary "Ruth" Hall Neumann, 92, of Plaquemine, La., died peacefully Fri. Aug, 19, 2022.

She was born to Woodrow and Lula Bell Hall of Raleigh, Miss. on May 22, 1930. Ruth was the eldest of eight children.

Ruth grew up in Smith County, Miss. and graduated from Raleigh High School in 1950.

She married Virgil Richard Neumann and raised three children, Maria (Perry) Neumann Bacalis, Duane (Diane) Edward Neumann, and Richard (Niki) Paul Neumann.

After moving to Tallulah, she worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell Telephone Company. She also worked as a librarian assistant at Madison Parish Library, and at the United States Post Office. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tallulah and a member of the Madison Parish Home Demonstration Club.

She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and cypress trees in her yard. She also loved to take photographs of her family, capturing all the good times together.

Ruth is preceded in death by one brother, JB Hall; and one sister, Nora Boykin.

She is survived by her three sisters, Tressie Rogan, Elaine Johnson, and Ilene Thompson; two brothers, Woodrow Hall Jr. and Billy Hall, all of Raleigh; her three children, Maria (Perry) Bacalis, Ed (Diane) Neumann, and Paul (Niki) Neumann; ten grandchildren, Sheri, Perry, Julie, Matthew, Alaina, Laura, Michelle, Michael, Charli and Owen; and eleven great-grandchildren, Eden, Alex, Josh, Nico, Cecelia, Selah, Marlo, Lenny, Cooper, Wells and Sophie.

Ruth was a very kind and loving woman and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She will be missed but not forgotten.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Turner House (New Day Cottages) in Colorado Springs, Colo. for extending their loving care to Neumann over the past sixteen months. Additional gratitude is extended to Pikes Peak Hospice of Colorado Springs during the last few weeks of her life.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Fri., Sept. 16, 2022, at Eastside Baptist Church in Raleigh. Inturnment will immediately follow.
