"Bill" Oakes - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, August 7, 1964 Services Held On Thursday For William P. Oakes Funeral services for William P. "Bill" Oakes, 58, who died at his home here Monday night after a short illness, were held Thursday morning at 10 A. M. at the Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. William Parkerson officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Oakes was a local business man. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Regena Oakes of Tallulah; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Jo Arceneaux of Lake Charles; one son, Dr. Charles L. Oakes of Mesquite, Texas; a .sister, Mrs. J. O. Hubley of Arcadia, California; and three brothers, John D. Oakes of Memphis, Tenn., and James and Baxter Oakes, both of Kentucky. Pallbearers were James Bowles, John Frank Olvey, Reid Watts, Harry Watts, Edward Watts, Eddie Regus, Jim Parker and Travis McNeel.
