Patton - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal March 18, 1949 W. A. Patton Killed In Car Wreck Friday W. A. Patton, better known to most people of Tallulah, as "Pat," was killed Friday night after the car he was driving, crashed into a truck on Highway 80. According to reports from the Sheriff's Office, Patton was returning to Tallulah when he swerved into a truck heading west, approximately ½ mile east of Tendal. The truck, driven by Mr. Windam, belonged to the Hoss Hauling Company of Laurel, Miss. Windam stated that two wheels of the truck were off the highway when Patton hit him. Patton, a veteran of World War I, was associated with the Fisher Barber Shop of Tallulah. He was a native of Oxford, Miss., and resided in this community for the past 20 years. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church, of Oxford, Miss., with the Rev. James Nelson, officiating. Burial followed in Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Patton is survived by two brothers, Alonzo Patton, Oxford, Miss., and F. B. Patton, also of Oxford; one sister, Mrs. Ida Perritt of Wesson, Miss.
