(Bill) Patton - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, May 7, 1986 MERRYVILLE, La.--Funeral services for W. F. (Bill) Patton, 87, were held Wednesday, May 7 at 4 p.m. under direction of Hixson-Myers Funeral Home in Merryville with the Rev. Bill Willson officiating. Mr. Patton died May 6 at 7:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles. He was born in Monroe, and owned and operated Delta Hardware Co. in Tallulah for a number of years. He lived in DeRidder after leaving Tallulah, and later moved to Merryville, where he lived for 31 years. He was a veteran of WWI, serving in France, and was a member of American Legion Post No. 27 in DeRidder for 50 years. He served a total of 63 years in the VFW, and was a member of VFW Post No. 9711 of Merryville, where he served as quartermaster for 10 years, being honored with a life membership. He was a Mason, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a former member of the Merryville City Council and a past member of the board of directors of Merryville General Hospital and Merryville Housing Authority. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. William F. (Virginia) Patton of Merryville; one daughter, Mrs. Laura Louise P. Crowell of Houston; one sister, Mrs. R.T. Treanor of Houston; two grand-children and two great-grandchildren.
