Linda McKaskle Pedro -
Madison Parish, Louisiana
From Shreveport Times, October 15, 2008
SHREVEPORT,
LA - A host of family members and friends will celebrate the life of Linda McKaskle Pedro at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2008, at
St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Officiating will be the Reverend Andrew Comeaux. Linda lost her courageous eight-year battle with
cancer quietly in her home on October 11, 2008. She had celebrated her
sixty-eighth birthday on August 11.
Born in Tallulah, LA,
Linda was the daughter of Maude Gaither McKaskle
Baker and Coy Neill McKaskle and stepfather, Lewis
Baker. The family moved to Bossier City when Linda was a young child. She
graduated from Bossier High School in 1958 and continued her education at
LSU-Shreveport. She embarked on a 20-year career as a legal secretary and
paralegal. Linda married Sammy Pedro in February of 1978 and became part of
the family business, Dealer Food Service Equipment, working there for another
20 years by her husband's side.
Linda's dedicated involvement in the community was monumental. At the time of
her death, she was a member of the Quota Club of Shreveport, Shreveport
Little Theater Guild, Woman's Department Club, Shreveport Opera Guild,
Bossier Alumni Association and PEO. Linda received numerous awards over the years
for her volunteering in the arts community.
Linda will be long remembered and greatly missed by her loving husband of
thirty years, Sammy Pedro; her two daughters, Susan Tully Mercer and
Stephanie Pedro; her grandchildren, Julia Ferguson and Taylor Buxton; her
stepbrother, Bradford Baker and wife, Cassie of Lenoir City, TN; her cousins,
Sue Lessman and husband, Marvin and Peggy Arwood Scurria and husband,
Philip of Tallulah (the sisters she never had); cousins, Vito and Patsy Cefalu; and her stepdaughter, Linda Tully Brown. Indeed,
Linda Pedro made a difference in this world and will be fondly remembered
always.
Special thanks to Hospice of Shreveport-Bossier and especially, Jean Sanders.
Thanks also to Dr. R.J. Massingill and staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of Linda's above-mentioned
organizations or the donation of your choice. Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
