Bernard Pettey - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, March 24, 1983 Funeral services were incomplete at press time for Mr. J. Bernard Pettey, 81, who died Wednesday morning in Madison Parish Hospital after an illness. Rev. Joel Treadwell and Bro. David Lawrence will officiate at services, which will be in Crothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ringgold, La. under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. He was a native of Bienville Parish and had lived in Tallulah for many years. He was a member of the Tallulah Rotary Club, Tallulah First Baptist Church and the Louisiana Engineering Society. He was a past superintendent of First Baptist Church Sunday School, former Madison Parish police juror, past engineer for the City of Tallulah and Madison Parish and a retired civil engineer with the Louisiana Department of Highways. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Josephine Williamson Pettey, a brother, Dr. Wilson Pettey of Lubbock, Texas; five children, 12 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
