All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Charles Phillips - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, October 21, 1976 Funeral services for Charles Phillips, 69, of Tallulah, were held Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church here with Father John Gayer and Father Thomas Delaney officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home of Tallulah. A rosary service was held at the funeral home chapel on Thursday. Mr. Phillips died Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Vicksburg, Miss. after an apparent heart attack. He was a native of Cefalu, Italy and was raised in Starkville, Miss. He had been a resident' Tallulah for the past 33 years, was the owner and operator of a retail liquor store in Tallulah for many years and a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church of Tallulah. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sarah Phillips of Tallulah; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Hodge of Tallulah and Mrs. Marie Michele of Irving, Tex.; three brothers, Tony Phillips of Aberdeen, Miss.; Joe Phillips and Sam Phillips, both of Starkville, Miss.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Blanchard of Houston, Tex.; Miss Conge Phillips and Mrs. Lena Scurria, both of Starkville, Miss.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Stanley Harmon, Dick Gassaway, Nolan Smith, W. M Malone, Lloyd Shelton and H. S. Weaver. The family requests that any planned memorials be made to the Catholic Center Building Fund.
