All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Charlotte Graves Pierson - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal November 27, 1953 Charlotte Graves Pierson Charlotte Graves Pierson, wife of the late William H. Pierson, passed away on Tuesday evening at her home here after a long illness. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Horace W. Lee and one granddaughter, Mrs. Catchings Baird Smith of Jackson, Miss., and two great grandchildren, Sharon and Melissa Lee Smith. Mrs. Pierson, a beloved mother and resident of Madison Parish for all of her life, was born at Milliken's Bend February 19, 1874, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. Francis Graves. Mr. Graves was a native of Woodville, Miss. and her mother was Miss Louise Maher, a native of New Orleans, La. She was married to Mr. William H. Pierson April 16, 1898 in Vicksburg, Miss. Mrs. Pierson was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and has been active in church work here during her lifetime. She was lovingly known as Miss Lottie, whose charity towards others was not given only in dollars and cents but in gracious service to others, no matter what their station in life. She was well loved by a host of friends, both of long standing and newly made ones. Funeral services were from Trinity Episcopal Church at three-thirty on Wednesday afternoon with internment in Silver Cross Cemetery in the family lot. Rev. J. Daniel Gilliam, her Rector, officiated. Pallbearers were all nephews: Tom Sharpe of Baton Rouge, La:, Ben Jordan, Francis Jordan of Pitken, La., George Jordan of Baton Rouge, La., Barton Sevier, Jim Sevier, Will Sevier and R. G. Long.
