Pinney - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal April 8, 1949 Funeral Services For Dillard R. Pinney Held April 3rd Dillard R. Pinney, age 82, who died Saturday, April 2nd, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Myles Hopkins, was the last of a prominent colonial family, which settled in Windsor, Connecticut, in 1630. He was born April 9, 1866, in Edinburg, Indiana, the son of Harrison H. Pinney, and Christina Sims Pinney. In 1890 he was married to Lillian D. Bodin, and on April 29th, they would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Mr. Pinney had lived in Madison Parish since 1920. After retiring from the lumber business, he operated a mercantile establishment at Roosevelt. Funeral services were held at 3:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Hopkins, with the Rev. John Kilpatrick, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in Silver Cross cemetery. The pallbearers were: H. B. Day, Herbert Day, H. D. Payne, J. R. Linton, M. A. Phillips and Major Cecil Smith. Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. Dean Allen, J. N. Harvey, Lucian Farr, and Jack Hopkins. Mr. Pinney is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillian Bodin Pinney; a daughter, Mrs. Myles Hopkins; a granddaughter, Mrs. H. E. Nobles, of New Orleans; and a great grandson, Howard Edwin Nobles, Jr.
