Piper - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal May 29, 1996 Funeral services for Lt. Col. Max L. Piper, age 85, of Benton, Arkansas, were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 1996 in the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. John Rushing officiating, Burial with military honors followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah. Visitation was Tuesday night at Glenwood-Crothers Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Lt. Colonel Piper died Saturday, May 25th, in the Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Ark. after a lengthy illness. He was born in Mexico, Mo. and was a member of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran of World War II. Lt. Colonel Piper retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 28 years, serving in Iceland, Germany, and Africa. He had lived the last 20 years in Benton, Ark. He is survived by his wife, Irene Arender Piper of Benton, Ark.; 2 daughters, Mary Beth Reinhart of Las Cruces, N .M. and Ann Piper of Berkeley, Calif.; 3 brothers, Cecil Piper, Holyoke, Mass., Charles Piper, Atlanta, Ga., and Don Piper, Memphis, Tenn.; 3 sisters, Elizabeth Dahlhauser and Mildred Dahlhauser, both of West Bend, Iowa and Virginia Claytor, Greenville, S.C. 1 grandson.
