All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Flora Maxwell Potts - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal January 9, 1969 Funeral Services Held Saturday For Mrs. Flora Maxwell Potts Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Maxwell Potts were hold at 11 a. m. Saturday in Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe. The Rev. W. Bradley Trimble, rector, officiated. Burial followed in the Old City Cemetery under the direction of Spears Funeral Home. Mrs. Potts, 201 Breard Street, Monroe, died late Thursday in Glenwood Hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Potts was a native of Madison Parish and she and her late husband, John J. Potts, moved to Monroe in 1902 where he was a member of the law firm of Hudson, Potts and Bernstein. Mrs. Potts was a member of the Fort Miro Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Bayou DeSiard Country Club and various book clubs and music clubs. She helped established the Ouachita Parish library system, which is affiliated with the State Library system in Baton Rouge. She was an active member of the Grace Episcopal Church. Mrs. Potts is survived by two grandsons, John Romain Peters, Jr. of New Orleans, and Benjamin Maxwell Peters of Monroe, one great grandson, John Romain Peters, III, of New Orleans, one half sister, Miss Alma Maxwell of Tallulah, and a number of nieces and nephews in Madison Parish. Pallbearers were Henry Bernstein, Jr., Murray Hudson and George Miller of Monroe, her nephew's, Thomas Gilhula of Denham Springs, La., Andrew Yerger and Edward Yerger of Mound, Maxwell Yerger, William Yerger and Rufus Yerger of Tallulah.
