All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ James Wright Powers - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe Morning World, April 4, 1968 James Wright Powers, 54, died early Wednesday morning at his residence from an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church here with the Revs. Bobby Brown and Mack Bomer officiating. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. A native of St. Joseph, LA., he had lived in Madison Parish for 38 years. He owned and operated Powers Garage. He was a member of Melbourne Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Aline Hopkins Powers, Tallulah; three sons: James W. "Sonny" Powers, Jr.. Donald Wayne "Donnie" Powers, Fredrick Andrew "Booby" Powers all of Tallulah; three daughters: Joan Powers and Reba Powers, both of Tallulah, and Jeanette Bamburg of Winnfield, La.; a brother Charlie Jobe of Tallulah; four sisters: Nellie Roser of New Orleans, La., Nannie Sanderson of Vicksburg, Ms., Florence Williams of Transylvania, La., and Flora Jobe of Tallulah. He had four grandchildren. Pallbearers include: Albert Fondren, Buford White, Alfred Holmes, A. E. "Boob" Hoenke, Kenneth Smith and James W, Reeves.
