(Hook) Prewitt, Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal October 9, 1996 Services were held for Benjamin H. (Hook) Prewitt, Sr., at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 1996 at Crothers-Glenwood Chapel in Tallulah. Burial followed at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwwod Funeral Home,Tallulah. Mr. Prewitt was 99. He was born in Weir, Miss. on September 20, 1897 to James Phillip and Alice Cornish Prewitt. He served in the U.S. Army in France during WWI. He married Mae Pearson in 1920 and moved to Tallulah, where he resided for 76 years. He was a retired painter and wall paper contractor. He and his wife and sons operated a paint and wallpaper store for 20 years in Tallulah. He is survived by: one son, Benny H. Prewitt, Jr.; two daughters, Gloria P Arender of Tallulah and Pat P. Porter of Monroe; two sisters, Virginia Hrubick of Tallulah and Mamie Phillips of Vicksburg; one brother, Archie Prewitt of Montrose, Colo.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were his grandsons: Randy Orrell, Kent Orrell, Rodney Orrell, Tim Porter and Stan Wilkins.
