Provine - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, January 2, 1986 Services for Dr. Henry S. Provine, 77, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah with the Revs. Ed Robertson and John Rushing officiating. Burial was in the Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under direction of Crothers Funeral Home of Tallulah. Dr. Provine died Friday in Sidney House Nursing Home in Vicksburg, Miss., after a long illness. He was a native of Clinton, Miss., and had lived in Tallulah for 50 years. Dr. Provine was a member of the American Medical Association, the First Baptist Church of Tallulah and a director emeritus of Tallulah State Bank. He was a graduate a Mississippi College in 1928 and the University of Tennessee Medical School in 1933. Dr. Provine served his internship in Birmingham, Ala., and was a general practitioner of medicine in Tallulah since 1935. He was in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Navy during World War II with the rank of lieutenant commander. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Kayser Provine of Tallulah; three daughters, Dorothy S. Provine of Washington, D.C., Mary Jo Briggs of Jackson, Miss., and Kay Lehenbauer of Jennings; one sister, Mrs. Marion Callahan of Clinton, Miss.; and five grandsons. Pallbearers were Harry Holt, Edgar Lancaster, Collins Thomas, R. D. Cagnolatti, Warren Patrick, Charles Arneson, J. H. Bryant and Sidney Johnson. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, the Madison Parish Library or a favorite charity.
