All rights reserved. *********************************************************************************************** Erle Read - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News-Star (LA), October 25, 1948 TALLULAH, La., Oct. 25. - (Special) - The funeral of Erle Read, 65, who died in the Vicksburg Hospital Sunday after a short illness, was held in the Methodist Church in Tallulah Monday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. John F. Kilpatrick officiating. Interment will be in Silver Cross cemetery. Mr. Read, native of Chicot county, Arkansas, has resided in Tallulah for the past 30 years and was a bookkeeper for the Stewart-Owen Hardware Company and cotton office. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a Mason. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Lane Read; a son, Erle Read, Jr., Tallulah; a daughter, Miss Ruth Read, Ruston; and a sister, Mrs. Gladys R. Breckenridge, New Orleans.
