All rights reserved. *********************************************************************************************** Ruth Lane Read - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post, July 22, 1982 Mrs. Ruth Read, Former Post Writer, Rites Today TALLULAH, La. — Services for Mrs. Ruth Lane Read of Tallulah will be today at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rupert Coles officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Cross Cemetery with Crothers Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Read, who was 90, died Tuesday in the Delta Haven Nursing Home in Tallulah after a lengthy illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Tallulah, a member of the First United Methodist Church and a retired school teacher for the Madison Parish School System. She was a lifelong member of the Woman's Society and was a local correspondent for the Monroe newspaper and Vicksburg Evening Post. She is survived by one son, Erle Read Jr. of Starkville, Miss.; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Calhoun of Ruston, La.; one sister, Mrs. S.W. Plauche of Lake Charles, La.; three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Maurice Ursery, Edward Williams, Milton Williams, Cliff Adams, Calvin Adams, Lane Plauche, John Byram and Carroll Crow.
