Funeral services for Mrs. Dianne Webb Roper, 79, of Monroe, will be held
at 11:00 AM Monday, June 2, 2025, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah,
Louisiana with the Rev. Bill Echols officiating. Visitation will be prior to
the service from 10:00 AM until the service time under the direction of
Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Dianne passed away May 29, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Dianne was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 30,1945 to Dr. George
Mandeville Webb and Dorothy Ann (Verser) Webb. She grew up in Madison Parish
and graduated from Tallulah High School in 1963. She earned a Bachelor of Arts
in Elementary Education in 1967 from Louisiana State University where she was a
proud member of Chi Omega fraternity. She received her Master of Education degree
from the University of Louisiana in Monroe in 2000. She was a member of Trinity
Episcopal Church in Tallulah.
Dianne was a passionate educator and taught at numerous area schools. She
will always be remembered for her loving and kind manner in the classroom and
her extraordinary ability to remember each of her students even many years
later. She was incredibly talented with needlepoint, having created numerous
special pieces which will be cherished for generations. With a love for
flowers, she cultivated beautiful gardens with blooms as colorful and striking
as the gardener herself. She was especially proud of her years of ministry on
several church altar guilds. Above all, Dianne loved her family and was a
doting wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the center of innumerable
holidays and many happy times together.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, George Mandeville Webb and
Dorothy Ann Verser Webb. She is survived and will be missed by her husband of
23 years, William Roper; her sons George Austin Miller and wife Lisa, Dr. Lee
Anthony Miller and wife Rhonda, daughter Elizabeth Miller McLean and husband
Kenneth, and stepdaughter Dena Roper Owen and husband Jim. She is survived by
eleven grandchildren, Phoebe Miller, George Miller, Adeline Miller, Mary
Elizabeth Miller, David Miller, John McLean, James McLean, Michael McLean,
Margaret McLean, Patrick Owen, and Caroline Owen. She is also survived by her
sisters Peggy Webb Smith, The Reverend Trish Webb Toburen and husband Robert,
cousin Judy Kell Morris, and numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends.
The family would like to thank the physicians and staff of St. Francis
Medical Center, Specialty Hospital Monroe, and Ouachita Healthcare
Rehabilitation Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dianne’s
honor to the United Service Organizations(USO) or the American Lung
Association.
